Create a small assistant that answers questions about a public or synthetic Git repository and cites the exact file paths and line ranges behind each answer. A team can divide the work across research, interface design, documentation, implementation, evaluation and security review.
Grounded answers are easier to verify. A clear read-only boundary makes the prototype safer to evaluate and useful as a learning project.
A small prototype, a question set and a short evaluation of citation accuracy, safe file handling and when the assistant should abstain.
Use only a public or synthetic repository. Do not index secrets, .env files, private code or personal data. The assistant must not execute commands, write to the repository or make external network calls. Check path traversal and symlink handling, verify citations against source lines, and make it say when evidence is missing. Non-coding contributions in UX, research, evaluation, documentation and security review are welcome.
